Hoya subcalva (4″ pot)
Gorgeous pink princess flowers. Fruity “grape” scent, hence the nickname Hoya “Whelch’s”. Uncommon and underrated.
Ships in 4″ pot. Photo #2 ONLY, is an example on size plant for sale.
Our plants are grown outside in FL; imperfections/blemishes are possible.
Description
A rarely offered Hoya that is nicknamed ‘Hoya Welch’s.’ It has been given this name because the flowers smell like grape or fruity and some say exactly like the Welch’s grape juice. The pink flowers are so very pretty and the individual flowers are large in comparison to Hoya carnosa.
The leaves are green color and medium to large size. This hoya grows really well for us; nice and full and blooms often when it is mature. It is native to the Solomon Islands & Papua New Guinea. I know I say this a lot, but this is definitely one of my favorites!
We grow our hoyas outside in S. FL in filtered light, keep soils slightly dry and protect from cold temperatures.
