Description
This Hoya is a slow grower at the beginning, but after a couple years, it really took off and became a full attractive plant. The leaves are similar to H. lamingtoniae, but are wider. It has shiny green, oval leaves and the new growth is orange color! I am really impressed with these flowers; it was quite the reward to see! The corolla is a mauve color with hints of orange. The corona is cranberry color with yellow tips. The flowers have a light pleasant fragrance.
I would not say this is a Hoya for a beginner looking for instant gratification. It is for a patient collector looking for a stunning species with “wow factor” flowers. This Hoya is rarely offered for sale.
We grow our Hoyas outside in filtered light in south Florida and protect from cold temperatures. This Hoya requires more water than your average succulent species because it does not have thick leaves.
