Encyclia cochleata – Clamshell orchid (Please, email us for availability)
Found in south Florida’s cypress swamps, this is an endangered species of orchid. Blooms in late Fall to Winter and can last several months. The flower is clamshell shaped and the purple color is so dark it almost looks black. The labellum uniquely covers the column from above, normally it’s the other way around.
Ships mounted. Does not come with flowers, but is mature to bloom!
Description
This plant enjoys light shade and bright indirect light, and thrives when the roots are allowed to dry out. It looks so pretty mounted, but is easy to pot as well.
