Paphiopedilum delenatii var. dunkel (2″ pot)

$30.00

Known for its darker foliage and cherry red labellum, this orchid flower is large and fragrant! The big round petals and sepals are white but can have a hue of baby pink or red. The foliage is just as attractive as the flower, outlined and speckled in a green so dark it looks purple and black. This species blooms from Spring until early Summer, sometimes in Autumn, harboring one flower per spike- two if you’re lucky! This plant is highly sought by collectors, hobbyists and breeders.

Ships in a 2″ pot.

Description

Also known as Paphiopedilum delenatii var. vinicolor, this species is a warm growing orchid. It thrives in bright indirect light- a north or east facing window is an adequate amount of light. They are slow growing, but once mature are reliable bloomers. These orchid roots are sensitive to salts, fertilize more diluted than normal. Water thoroughly, allowing the pot to be flushed of any salt build up. Pot in a well-draining airy soil to allow the roots to breath, something like orchid bark and perlite or mount it to a piece of wood. Repot this plant about every year give or take, it enjoys it.
