Description
Maxillaria tenuifolia, also known as the “Coconut” orchid is one of the best smelling orchids out there. They are native to Mexico, Costa Rica, & Nicaragua where they can be found growing as epiphytes on rainforest trees, sometimes they can even be found growing as terrestrial plants as well. They have an upward growth tendency as the plant tries to find light. They are among some of the easier orchids to care for and grow pretty quickly which makes them great for beginners. They have long, thin, grass-like foliage, with deep red/orange triangular flowers, and can be grown in pots, or hanging baskets. They are most known for their amazing scent. They grow best in bright, filtered light with average water.
