Cnidoscolus aconitifolius ‘Variegated’ – Spinach Tree – Variegated Chaya (2″ pot)

$25.00

This beautiful tree is easy to maintain even at 6-8ft tall, producing edible leaves that are so pretty they can be purely ornamental. The edible leaves must be cooked to be eaten, they are a great source of protein, calcium, iron, and vitamins. I recommend this to any foliage lover, it would fit wonderfully into a collection!

Ships in a 2″ pot. It may have some spots from too much rain and humidity. New leaves are clean in different climates.

Description

This tree loves warm weather, growing best in the ground in tropical and subtropical climates. If growing in a cold climate, I recommend keeping it in a pot- keep in mind it won’t grow as big. Full sun to part sun is necessary. Little white flowers will emerge in the Summer, seed pods following after. It thrives in a well-draining, organic, nutrient rich soil. Compost and manure are great organic options. Water once the top few inches of the soil is dry to the touch, this plant doesn’t like to be moist all of the time but don’t let it dry out completely for too long. Watering should be reduced in the Winter and protect it from freezing temperatures.
