This collector’s plant has arrow-shaped, metallic-like leaves that start off a coppery red/maroon sheen, turning a deep green with ridges as it matures. I recommend this plant to anyone looking for a more uncommon Alocasia or someone looking to start or add to a collection!

Description

Alocasia cuprea ‘Red Secret’ is a beautifully unique Alocasia, known for its metallic-like coppery leaves when it is young. This plant has a beautiful process of maturing, turning a deep green color with almost black veins and ridges in its arrow-shaped leaves. This plant has adapted to lower light conditions, it can take a seat in a window or outside with indirect sunlight. In winter, especially for those in cooler climates, keep your plant in as much sun as possible, as it’s a tropical plant. When watering, wait until the top 2 inches or so is dry before watering thoroughly. If they dry out completely it can trigger the plant to go into dormancy. Your plant may also go dormant if it’s too cold, this doesn’t mean the plant is dying! For potting mix, any well-draining mix will work such as orchid bark and perlite.
