Vanda sanderiana – Waling-Waling (4″ HB)
This is a rare orchid native to the Philippines, commonly known as the “Queen of the Philippine Flowers”. The orchid produces long lasting, colorful fragrant flowers. The delicate flowers show off varying shades of reds, purples and oranges in a veiny and splotchy gradient pattern. This orchid needs a little more care than the average, I recommend it for advanced plant owners and beginners looking for a challenge!
Ships in a 4″ hanging basket. Does not come with flowers. If out of stock, please email us with your zip code for availability
Description
The Waling-waling needs plenty of bright indirect sunlight, strong air circulation and high humidity. If there is not enough indirect sunlight for the plant to receive, it may not bloom for the year, however keep it out of direct sunlight or the plant may burn. It should kept moist by watering almost every day, with slight drying in between, and reduced water quantity in Winter. For potting soil, use an orchid bark, perlite and charcoal mix or mount on a piece of wood. Regular fertilizing is recommended during blooming months. Make sure to give this plant its space next to other plants, this orchid is very sensitive to disease and air circulation. The orchid can produce keikis, remove and repot the keikis once they’re fully formed from the mother plant so it does not take her energy away for too long and hinder her health.
