Description

At the beginning, this species is slow growing. I would not say this Hoya is an early bloomer, but it is definitely a “worth the wait” species because the flowers are stunning. The large cup shaped flowers are pink with burgundy star corona. I love a tiny corona in front of a large corolla. I also love the papery balloon-like buds! The shade of pink of the flowers varies depending on the weather. The corolla is sometimes a nice medium pink color and it is sometimes a pale pink. The flowers have a very mild but pleasant scent. Once mature, this Hoya can bloom any time of the year in warm climates.

This Hoya is native to Papua New Guinea. We grow our Hoyas outside in S. FL in filtered light, only water when the soil drys, and we protect well from cold temperatures.
