Description
We purchased this species from Liddle’s Nursery in Australia as a cutting. It bloomed for me less than two years later. The flowers have a light yellow corolla with a white corona. The individual flowers are big in comparison to Hoya carnosa and my mother plant usually displays a nice big, full cluster. The flowers also have a very strong and pleasant perfume fragrance.
This Hoya develops big, beautiful, white veined, light green leaves. I have noted one leaf to be 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″ on my mother plant. The leaves can develop burgundy colors if you provide more light or in the winter time.
The leaves are more on the thin side and I would give this species a little more water than a succulent hoya. Please understand that Hoyas that like more water, don’t want to be kept moist, especially in the winter time. I think you will enjoy this one in your collection because the flowers and leaves are both very desirable.
We grow our hoyas outside in south Florida in filtered light and protect well from cold temperatures since they are tropical.
All photos were taken of our mature mother plants in bloom, not of the plants for sale.
