Hoya globulosa (4″ hanging basket)

Description

Hoya globulosa has very attractive, succulent, long, shiny, green leaves with dark green conspicuous veins and hairs. It is a fast grower that will become a gorgeous hanging basket patio plant. I would recommend this one mainly for the foliage lover since the leaves are so unique and beautiful.

This Hoya is very easy to grow for me but it has never bloomed and it is simply because we are too hot and humid (80+ degrees in winter…). The flowers are yellowish/off white and white and red corona.

I don’t recommend exposing it to freezing temperatures, but I believe this species will bloom better for someone that experiences “cooler” nights and/or dry air. It is native to the Himalayas.

We grow our Hoyas outside in S. FL in filtered light, we keep the soil on the dry side and we protect from cold temperatures. I have also found that this hoya needs regular fertilizing to keep the nice deep green color.
