Hoya ‘Sunrise’ (2.5″ pot) (the original)

Hoya ‘Sunrise’ is quite popular and many have it in their collection. The thing is, my Hoya ‘Sunrise’ is different than “the one” that is sold on the market today. Our mother plant is at least 20+ years old and I believe it is the real Hoya ‘Sunrise’. I am not sure if the one that is currently mass produced is just a Hoya obscura clone or a similar hybrid (also obscura x lacunosa). My plant has smaller leaves and doesn’t sun-stress as much as the “new” sunrise. What do you think? Collect the real one here with Gardino’s!

Ships in 2.5″ pot. Photo #2 ONLY, is an example on size plant for sale.
Our plants are grown outside in FL; imperfections/blemishes are possible.

Description

This is a cross between Hoya obscura and Hoya lacunosa which are some of the easiest hoyas to grow. This makes a great hanging basket plant for your patio. This plant gets super cute flowers and they are fragrant! Flowers are white with touches of pink. Flowers are eventually revolute, but I shared some pictures of when the petals were still flat, so pretty! Once this hoya starts blooming, it does so continuously. This Hoya blooms ALL THE TIME! I would recommend this one to a beginner and someone looking for an early Hoya bloomer.

We grow our hoyas outdoors in filtered light. Hoyas are known for being good indoor plants as well. Most hoyas like to be kept a little on the dry side. Give the hoyas with thin leaves more water. Hoyas like to grow in small pots with a trellis or hanging baskets. Fertilization is average. Hoyas need to be protected from cold temperatures.
