Dendrobium glomeratum (email for availability)

This beautiful orchid species is a warm to cool growing epiphyte that blooms in the Spring and Summer. Each inflorescence holds 5-10 flowers, and each plant can hold many many inflorescences, growing more as the years stack on. The beautiful flowers are a vibrant purple and sparkle in the light. The foliage is abundant and full, dropping in the cold months.

Description

This species prefers to be mounted, but does well in a hanging basket too under the right conditions. If potting, pot in a chunky airy mix like orchid bark, perlite and charcoal. Make sure the medium has dried completely before watering again. Air circulation is important for the roots to properly dry and to keep the foliage cooled off. This species prefers high humidity and a position in very bright filtered light. Protect from freezing temperatures.
