Cattleya iricolor
This beautiful orchid is unique among the Cattleya species, resembling aurantiaca. It has long, creamy yellow petals and sepals. The labellum comes to a sharp point and is colorful, showing peeks of maroon with a bright yellow throat. The flowers last a few weeks with a powerfully strong fragrance. Each flower spike easily produces 6 flowers, and spikes climb in numbers with each year it matures.
Description
This is a warm to hot growing orchid. Place in a position with very bright indirect light, like most orchids, it needs a lot of light to bloom each year. Provide or place in a position with adequate air circulation and humidity. This species sends out new growth in Autumn and produces a new pseudobulb in Winter, eventually flowering in the Spring. Protect from freezing temperatures.
