Description

The Alocasia Polly is a very recognizable plant that you’ll probably have seen before on social media or in gardening stores. A beautiful houseplant that has deep green, waxy leaves with bold white/cream-colored lines. They can grow overall to be about 3 feet in length. Its large and odd-shaped leaves with bright nerves will jump out at you from a distance. This plant takes root from rhizomes that allow them to be easily propagated. Indigenously, they can be found in tropical rainforests, also along streams and marshes in India, Southeast Asia, and southern China. You may look at Alocasia ‘Mandalay’ and think they are the same, while they do look very similar they have a few differences. The most obvious being their leaf shapes. Alocasia ‘Polly’ has a more narrow, elongated leaf vs Alocasia ‘Mandalay’s’ has a more compact rounded shape. Alocasia ‘Mandalay’s’ are also known to produce more foliage than ‘Polly’. See the last photo for a side by side comparison (Polly on the left), and (Mandalay on the right)
