Description

Thaumatophyllum Bipinnatifidum – a large, epiphytic aroid that many adore as a houseplant, but is most commonly used for tropical and subtropical landscapes. It’s native to South America where you can find it growing in warm sunny areas but it can also grow under deep shade, with indirect sunlight. They grow in a large shrub-like pattern that can reach up to 10’ tall, with the leaves reaching up to 4’ long in the right growing conditions. They have deep green, bold shiny, lobed leaves. You may know it as Philodendron Selloum as that’s its previous name, however, it was reclassified in 2018 under its newer name Thaumatophyllum Bipinnatifidum. Its first name translates to wonder leaf, and its second translates to double feathery split leaves. Its beautiful, green foliage and dense growth pattern are what help to make it a lovely houseplant.
