Description
This unusual tropical ginger grows best in filtered light, moist and humid locations. It can reach a height of about 8′ tall. It has attractive dark green, soft leaves. When mature, the Pineapple Ginger also known as Indonesian Wax Ginger and Beehive Ginger, forms beautiful waxy red bracts and yellow-orange flowers emerge from them. The inflorescence makes a very nice cut flower that lasts a long time. You can see them any time during warm weather. It is native to Malaysia, Indonesia, New Guinea, and Australia.
