Sansevieria ‘Boncellensis’ aka ‘Starfish’ is an easy growing succulent plant with fat, short, cylindrical leaves that taper to a point. It resembles a starfish that has been planted halfway in soil, hence the nickname. The leaves are grayish-green colored with bands of darker green marks. The leaves spread out like a fan, and in given time will produce offsets that will fill the pot with similar fan-like growths. If grown in bright enough light this plant can produce up to 3 foot long, spike-like raceme of pink-budded white flowers. It’s best placed in moderately bright, and filtered light, but stay away from intense light that may cause the edges of the leaves to turn yellow. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering, and then water deeply until water drips through a drainage hole. Protect the plant from drafts and cold temperatures as it is damaged at temperatures below 50 degrees F.
