Allspice is a condiment made out of fruits (berries) from this tall shrub. You just have to collect the unripe berries and let them dry naturally in the sun. After they are dry, they resemble large and smooth peppercorns.

The leaves are also used for cooking. Allspice can also be found in essential oil form.

Allspice is the most important ingredient of Caribbean cuisine, but also widely used in Middle Eastern, Arab and other parts of the world.

It is a large shrub or tree that can grow 30′ tall, but can be kept small in a container. Best for partial sun. Protect from freezing.
