Description

I used to say that this species didn’t have any kind of “special” leaf or flower and I never really paid much attention to it but I have since changed my mind. Hoya pusilla is closely related or similar to Hoya lacunosa. The leaves are actually really cute. They are larger than most Hoya lacunosa foliage. The leaves are shiny/glossy, dark green color, some leaves especially the new ones have dimples or indents, and the foliage resembles a tear drop. Some leaves may also have tiny silver flecks. The darling pubescent flowers closely resemble Hoya obscura. The corolla is white to pink (or both) with a yellow star corona. The flowers have a very pleasant fragrance. Hoya pusilla is an early bloomer and frequent bloomer if grown in a tropical climate or given lots of humidity and bright light. Hoya pusilla is also easy to grow and becomes a nice long and full vine. This is a great species to own. This rarely offered species is native to Malaysia.

We grow our hoyas outdoors in filtered light. Hoyas are known for being good indoor plants as well. Most hoyas like to be kept a little on the dry side. Give the hoyas with thin leaves more water. Hoyas like to grow in small pots with a trellis or hanging baskets. Fertilization is average. Hoyas need to be protected from cold temperatures.
