Hoya ‘Ruthie’ (4″ pot)

$20.00

Hoya ‘Ruthie’ produces spectacular large yellow and orange flowers when mature. The big waxy blooms have a pleasant spice scent. This cultivar produces one of the largest individual flowers in the genus, it is amazing to see in person. This is probably the Eriostemma type Hoya that is the easiest to bloom.

Ships in 4″ pot. Photo #2 ONLY, is an example on size plant for sale.
Our plants are grown outside in FL; imperfections/blemishes are possible.

Description

This is an Ed Gilding hybrid. The leaves are not fuzzy like most eriostemma hoyas, these are very shiny and smooth.
This Hoya produces spectacular star shaped flowers. They are big, up to 2″ diameter flowers and very waxy/plastic looking. Flowers are yellow and pinkish and they have a pleasant spicy scent. We are amazed by this hoya for being such a good bloomer. It also didn’t take that long to bloom for me, as most hoyas in the Eriostemma section do.
This hoya grows really fast during the warm months and it is grown best in very bright shade/filtered light. I do recommend it more for someone that has a greenhouse or that can grow outside in a tropical climate as it can get big/long and likes very good light to bloom. I do not recommend it for someone that has limited space or lives in a very cold climate. This Hoya is very cold-sensitive. It is not hard to grow, but I do not recommend it for beginners.

**Hoya ‘Ruthie’ likes more water than the average succulent Hoya. Keep in mind that Hoyas who “like” water, do not like being soaked during the cold months. Do not over-water in the wintertime.

We grow our Hoyas outside in south Florida and this information is based on growing in our location only.

All photos were taken of my mature mother plants only, not the plants for sale.
