It is also known as Greater Galangal, Thai Galangal and Spicy Thai Ginger. The rhizomes are known to smell like black pepper and have a sweet taste.

You should grow this plant in full to partial sun. It needs regular watering and fertilizing requirements. It actually also grows to become a nice landscape plant with very unusual and pretty flowers. Don’t forgot to protect from freezing temperatures.
