Description

This South African native is a very large, rare, unusual, and interesting succulent tropical tree that forms an incredibly wide base. Due to the size, many grow this plant in a container and some even train it as a Bonsai tree. Mature trees bear large, dangling, white flowers that are super unique.

Some legends claim that the tree was cast down from the heavens and landed upside down. When the tree is dormant in the winter (no leaves), the upper branches look more like roots and it has the appearance as if the tree was upside down. Of course, I imagine that this incredible sight can only be seen on large trees in the ground.
Baobab grows outside in full sun, it needs medium water in the summer and likes to be kept a little dry in the winter. They need to be protected from freezing temperatures. This bizarre collector tree is normally kept in a container as a Bonsai tree.
