Description

This Central American Acacia comes with an interesting story. Its large “bullhorn” shaped thorns are sharp and keep some animals away, but it has other methods of protection in case that doesn’t work. In nature, this plant has developed a symbiotic relationship with ants. The ants take shelter inside the thorns and in return protect the plant from browsing animals and bugs that might enjoy eating the plant’s leaves. This tree also gets very fragrant, yellow “pom pom” flowers. It is best to plant in sheltered areas away from strong winds. This is also good for bonsai if you are brave enough.
