This tropical succulent "wax flower" has pretty leaves with some silver flecks. It produces pink/purple flowers when mature and the flowers are very fragrant in the evening. This is an easy to grow plant for beginners.

More details

This beauty is also known as Hoya pubicalyx 'Chimera' due to the different color flowers on an umbel at the same time.
The leaves can turn burgundy when exposed to more light and the leaves also have some pink and silver flecks or splashes. These colors can also be seen during the cooler months. Some clones can be more "splashy" than others.
This Hoya produces pretty neat flowers once mature. You can see clusters with pink flowers and also on the same plant you might see clusters that are almost black. Some of the clusters are even mixed pink and "black." This is a very attractive hoya that is also very easy to grow and I would recommend to someone starting their collection.
Hoyas grow best outdoors in shade to filtered light, but they are popular for doing well indoors by a window with good light if you do not live in a tropical climate. We only water H. pubicalyx when the soil is dry. Another good thing about all H. pubicalyx clones is that they are more cold hardy hoyas. Here in S FL we grow them outdoors year round. Mature plants can take frost for a short period of time.
